New Clubs
To apply for Club status, a representative from the prospective club must:
- Come to a short meeting on Monday, September 12 in Pod F at 2:30 pm.
- Return the application (below) to Ms. Brown in Pod F by Tuesday September 27, 2016
- Email a complete Club Constitution to [email protected] by the application due date.
In reviewing applications for new clubs, the Student Council will consider the following:

- Is there an existing group that has the same or similar purpose?
- How will this new group benefit the student, the school, and/or the community?
Before a new club may be formed, a school faculty member must be willing to accept the following responsibilities:
- Be present at all club meeting and sponsored activities – DO NOT LEAVE your students.
- Be sure each student has transportation for after school activities.
- Approve all announcements concerning activities
- Account for all money through the bookkeeper according to Wake County School Board policy
- Approve all activities and submit activities that will take place on Apex High campus to student campus for initial approval. Student council will notify the club advisor concerning approval status. Get permission for use of facilities/security/materials, etc
- Encourage member involvement using posters, announcements and other marketing
- Keep a current roster with contact information and monitor attendance during meetings and events.
- Maintain a constitution in electronic format, preferably a MS Word document, that can be put on the AHS website. Here is a sample constitution.
- Supervise field trip permission slips for any off-campus activities with prior approval, this includes homecoming parade floats.
Club Expectations
- Clubs preferably meet after school between the hours of 2:30-4 pm.
- Clubs MUST have their sponsor present at all meetings and practices and all club sponsored activity.
- Clubs must have a constitution (see sample) preferably a MS Word document, that can be put on the AHS website.
- Club approval is for one year only. A review of the club will be held at the beginning of the next school year.
- Clubs will raise funds as dictated by Wake County School Board Policy (see Mrs. Leonard, bookkeeper). Sponsors are responsible for all documentation/receipting.
- Club members will participate in Campus Beautification Days (2 per year) as well as Homecoming Activities (Make a club float for the parade).
- Create a display for Club Fairs (during Parent Open House) and have members present to advertise and recruit.
- Your club should be sustainable – have a strong membership with a variety of grade levels so that the club leadership will continue year to year.
- Your club should contribute to the culture of Apex High – be a club dissimilar to any other clubs and be of academic, athletic or educational merit (ie. No “poster” clubs)
